Rooted in Ellendale
The original church building was built in 1870 and was just outside of town. After a fire destroyed the first building, a decision was made to move the church building into town which has been there ever since 1949. As you can imagine, when a church has been around for over 150 years there have been generations and generations of families coming to First Lutheran. This congregation is like a family who loves their neighbor and prays for the needs of others. Families, individuals, and friends of First Lutheran come to hear the Word of God preached and to see His kingdom move forward.
This is the history of First Lutheran and we most certainly pray that this will continue to be the future of First Lutheran.
We are called by God as a church to bring His name, His message, and His ministry to our community!
Grounded in the Gospel
We believe that we are sinners and are in need of a Savior and that there is only one way to heaven through Jesus Christ (Romans 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:1-10) . He is the way, the truth, and the life and salvation is found in Him alone (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). Because of the grace that we have received from Jesus, we also strive to extend forgiveness to one another (Ephesians 4:32).
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). As such, it is inerrant (without error) and completely true in all its parts (John 17:17).
