“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me…”

Galatians 2:20

“To know Christ and to make Him known.”

Here at First Lutheran Church, we desire to know Christ and to make Him known. What does that mean and what does that look like? It means that the center of everything we do is the Bible, which is how God chose to reveal Himself to us, is inspired by God Himself and is therefore without error. We know from Scripture that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and came to heal not only the broken world but our broken relationship with God the Father. We know Christ not only with our minds but also with our hearts.

Grounded in the Gospel, Rooted in Ellendale

The original church building was built in 1870 and was just outside of town. After a tornado destroyed the first building, a decision was made to move the church building into town and has been there ever since 1949.

Worshiping and Serving as the Body of Christ

As we gather together as the body of Christ, we worship our Savior-King, Jesus. But primarily we gather, not for us to do a work for God, but for God to do a work for us, in us, and through us, as God has promised to change us through His Word and the working of the Holy Spirit. (Ezekiel 36:26; Isaiah 55:11)

Focused on Christ and grounded in the Scriptures, our service contains a blend of modern music, historic hymns, confessions, Scripture, prayer, and the preaching of God’s Word. Families are encouraged to worship together, and activity bags are available for children.
